North Region

States: Amazonas, Pará, Acre, Rondônia, Roraima, Amapá and Tocantins.

Brazil's Northern Region is almost entirely covered by the broad expanse of the Amazon Rain Forest. A region where nature is the predominant force. The forest and the rivers dictate the lifestyles of plants, animals and even man. Exotic birds and other wildlife add color and sound.

During the rubber boom in the 19th century, the Amazon region was the world's largest producer of natural rubber. Even today its cities bear the reminders of that era of great wealth and luxury, when money and imported goods poured in from all over the world. Manaus and Belém are the main gateways to the region.
