Pantanal Lowlands and Savannah Tableland 9 nights - 10 days

Pantanal (swampland and shallows, actually a vast alluvial plain) is a vast wetland area in the center of South America with approximately 140,000 square kilometers (50,000 sq. miles) in Brazil. It's a perfect ecological niche for a great number of birds, reptiles and other animals to the delight of wildlife watchers and photographers.

Savannah Tableland - Geologically as old as the Andes formation, the Chapada dos Guimarães Tableland with its average 760 m high, gives sources to all main rivers and waters that run into the Pantanal. Its waterfalls, creeks, rock formations covered with Cerrado (Savannah-like) vegetation and exotic wildlife, present this National Park with an unbeaten beauty.

LAND SAFARI - 8 DAYS/7 NIGHTS

Day 1:

Arrival at Rio de Janeiro international airport for connection to Cuiabá.

CUIABÁ

Reception at Cuiabá/ Várzea Grande Airport, City Tour through the city's principal historic centers, followed by your check-in at the Global Garden Hotel. Dinner (not included), overnight stay.

Day 2:

CUIABÁ - SAVANNAH TABLELANDS

Breakfast and departure to Chapada dos Guimarães National Park, lunch at the Cachoeirinha Restaurant, where you'll be able to taste a delicious regional food in front of a wonderful waterfall, followed by further exploration of the Park, when you'll visit the Echo Wall and observe the sunset. Check-in at a local lodge, diner, overnight stay.

Day 3:

CHAPADA DOS GUIMARÃES - BARÃO DE MELGAÇO (Mutum River Lodge)

Breakfast and departure to visit the very center of South America were you will enjoy a marvelous view over the Pantanal plan. Later, further on the way, a stop at the Martinha Waterfall for a picnic lunch and an eventual shower. Then we'll proceed on our journey through the Chapada dos Guimarães Tableland up to the São Vicente Mountain Range, heading towards Barão de Melgaço's Pantanal. By the end of the day, check-in at the Mutum River Lodge. Diner and overnight night.

Day 4:

BARÃO DE MELGAÇO

After breakfast, trekking in the surrounding forests. Lunch. Afternoon dedicated to motorboat trips and fishing. Enjoy sunset from the middle of the Chacororé Bay. Return for dinner and overnight. (B, L, D)

Day 5:

BARÃO DE MELGAÇO - SAPÉ LODGE

After breakfast, motor boat trip to visit the Siá Mariana Bay. Go further down the Cuiabá River up to a nesting place, where from July to September you'll observe thousands of birds nesting. After lunch visit at AMEC. Trip further down river (50 minutes approximately) to Sapé Lodge. Check-in, dinner and overnight stay.

Day 6:

SAPÉ LODGE - PORTO CERCADO ®TRANSPANTANEIRA ®ARARAS ECO LODGE

Breakfast and departure to get the Transpantaneira Park Road with approximately 70 Km of photo-safari to reach Araras Eco Lodge. Check-in and lunch. Afternoon dedicated to trekking and visits to the treetop towers for fauna observation (12 and 25 meters high). Dinner and overnight stay.

Day 7:

PANTANAL - ARARAS ECO LODGE

The awakening follows the season's rhythm; breakfast is served at first sunlight. Exploring activities start with trekking, for observation and interpretation of the paths besides the Transpantaneira Park Road, through private embankments (dirt roads) and neighboring ranches. After lunch, horseback riding on the fields in a Pantanal fashion at the Ronco do Bugio private reserve. Dinner, overnight stay.

Day 8:

ARARAS ECO LODGE - CUIABÁ/VÁRZEA GRANDE AIRPORT

By the first sunlight, you'll be able to enjoy the awakening of the fauna. Breakfast and departure for the airport in Cuiabá.

Arrival in Rio de Janeiro and transfer to hotel. Day at leisure.

Day 9:

Breakfast buffet at hotel. Full day Jeep tour to Corcovado Mountain and through the Tijuca Forest with lunch included. Beverages are not included. Night at leisure.

Day 10:

Breakfast buffet at hotel. Day at leisure. Transfer out to airport.
